Chief Technology Officer — Defense Systems
Mission
Own the technical blueprint across uncrewed software, hardware integration, and secure signaling. Lead a 45+ person R&D division and translate frontline requirements into shipped systems.
As CTO you hold the entire technical picture — autonomy software, hardware integration, edge AI, and secure signaling — and you are accountable for turning what operators learn on the front into systems that actually ship. You will set the architecture, hire and grow a multidisciplinary division of engineers and scientists, and make the hard build-versus-buy and risk calls under real time pressure. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will still read code and schematics, sit in field reviews, and answer for reliability when a system is carried into a contested environment.
What you bring
- Mastery of systems engineering, robotics, RF systems, or embedded computing
- Track record deploying resilient production hardware/software under hard deadlines
- Working knowledge of NATO standardization (STANAG), security architecture, and export law
- Exceptional leadership and clarity under fluid, high-pressure conditions
What you'll own
- Direct the technical and architectural roadmap across multi-domain R&D
- Convert tactical briefs from the veteran council into build sprints
- Liaise with Brave1 coordinators and international defense partners
- Use field-test metrics to iterate subsystem designs rapidly
